SANCTUARY OF TYNDARIS

ITINERARY No. 1: 3 days / 2 nights

Arrival at the hotel "Sacra Famiglia" in Patti. In the afternoon the group will visit the town of Patti.
His origin goes back to the 1094 when Roger I founded a Benedictine convent on the hill where the Cathedral now stands.
Visit the Cathedral of Norman origin and the well conserved Roman Villa.
Dinner in the hotel. After dinner "get together" evening in the hotel. 
Overnight.

After breakfast, the group will go to Tyndaris, an interesting archaeological centre to see the Sanctuary of the Black Madonna, a sacred image which has been venerated since Byzantine days and, according to tradition, originally from the East. Holy Mass in the Sanctuary, and then visit to the archaeological area.
Lunch in the hotel.

In the afternoon the group will visit the town of San Marco d'Alunzio, a lovely town located in the Nebrodian Mountains.
Visit includes: the Temple of Hercules whose cella was turned into a Church dedicated to St. Marco, the Bizantine Church of St. Teodoro, the Church of Santa Maria d'Ara Coeli and the great Benedictine Abbey in the nearby countryside dating back to the 1082. Typical nebrodian dinner in a local restaurant.
Back to the hotel. Overnight.
